Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis shrine holds memorial rites for Yun Jeon (1575-1636), who died a martyr's death on Ganghwado Island during the Byeongja War, the Qing invasion of Joseon. Yun Jeon was a civil official of the mid-Joseon period who passed the state examination in 1610, the second year of King Gwanghaegun, but was dismissed in 1613 because of Yi I-cheom and Yi Wi-gyeong. He was reinstated and rose to Assistant Section Chief of the Board of Taxation in 1615, but was again driven out and dismissed by Yi Wi-gyeong and others. After the Injo Restoration he was reinstated as Assistant Magistrate of Gyeonggi Province, and the following year, during the rebellion of Yi Gwal, he guarded King Injo when the king took refuge in Gongju. When the Byeongja War broke out in 1636, the fourteenth year of King Injo, he escorted the crown princess to Ganghwado Island and died in battle against the enemy. He was later posthumously appointed Minister of Personnel and given the posthumous title Chungheon. This building originally stood in Byeongsa-ri, Noseong-myeon, Nosan-gun, and was moved to its present location.
