Bonghwa Ungyeripyetap
봉화운계리폐탑 · 奉化雲溪里廢塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a stone pagoda whose base has completely disappeared, leaving only three body stones and three roof stones of the pagoda body. The body stones are currently stacked from largest to smallest, bottom to top, and rectangular niches (gamsil, chambers for housing Buddha images) are set into all four sides of the first-storey body stone. The roof stones have blunted eaves, giving them a rough, unrefined appearance. One roof stone, found buried in the ground, seems too large to rest on the underside of a body stone, raising the possibility that it originally formed part of the base. Judging from the stone-carving technique and the style of the roof stones, the pagoda appears to have been made in the late Goryeo period.
