Yuudang Hall is a residential house built by Yi Sang-do (1773-1835). It was originally erected in 1833, the 33rd year of King Sunjo of Joseon, in Junam-ri, Seokbo-myeon, and was later moved to its present site by his descendant Yi Don-ho (1869-1942). Yi Don-ho took part in the independence movement during the March First Movement of 1919, and his nephew Byeong-gak was active as a patriotic anti-Japanese poet alongside Jo Ji-hun, O Il-do and Jo Se-rim. The building's name comes from the pen name of Gichan, Yi Sang-do's eldest son, and the complex consists of two buildings: a hall used for ancestral rites and a shrine. The hall for ancestral rites is a typical traditional house with a square (ㅁ-shaped) floor plan, while the shrine is a single-bay structure with a gabled roof (matbae roof) that forms the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side.
