Moseonjeong is a pavilion built to honour the filial devotion of Park Su-gyeon. A student of the Neo-Confucian scholar Kim Jong-jik during the reign of King Seongjong of Joseon, Park built a hut beside his parents' grave after their deaths and kept watch over it, devoting himself entirely to mourning them. The name Moseonjeong ("pavilion of longing for one's forebears", 慕先亭) arose from people's admiration for his filial devotion, which led them to call his mourning hut by that name. The pavilion measures six bays across the front and two bays to the side, with a hipped-and-gabled roof that forms the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" (八) when viewed from the side. It was first built in 1500, the sixth year of King Yeonsangun of Joseon, but was burned down during the Japanese invasions of 1592 and was rebuilt during the reign of King Yeongjo of Joseon, continuing to the present day.
