These are wooden statues housed in the Myeongbujeon Hall, the Hall of the Underworld, at Unheungsa Temple, comprising Venerable Domyeong, King Mudok and the Ten Kings, among others. Venerable Domyeong holds the staff associated with Ksitigarbha, the bodhisattva who saves beings from hell, while King Mudok is dressed in the attire of a civil official. The Ten Kings are arranged in rows flanking the central triad, with figures of underworld messengers, court clerks and child attendants placed between them. At the entrance to the hall stand statues of the Guardian Kings (Inwang). Carved in the late Joseon period, these wooden statues are highly important material for the study of the history of Buddhist art.
