The house has a U-shaped layout formed by the L-shaped men's quarters (sarangchae), built with a hip-and-gable roof typical of the late Joseon period, joined to the straight-lined women's quarters (anchae). The women's quarters contain a main room, a wooden-floored hall (daecheong), a side room, a storage room and a kitchen, while the men's quarters consist of a sarangbang (men's reception room) and its own daecheong. Beside the sarangbang a raised wooden loft (numaru) was added to serve as a place for taking in the surrounding countryside. The ridge-beam inscription gives the date by the old Chongjeong-era reckoning as the gyemyo year, showing that the house was built in 1843. A plaque honouring Sin Seok-bung as a filial son hangs on the house's east gate.
