Within these grounds stands Sinan Yeongdang Shrine. It was built in 1538, the 35th year of King Jungjong, and enshrines portraits of Zhu Xi and Song Si-yeol, known by his pen name Uam. The building was repaired in 1872, the ninth year of Emperor Gojong's reign, but the portraits were later lost to fire during his reign. Besides this shrine, there is also an annex building called Sujeonggung. In 1538, the 33rd year of King Jungjong of Joseon, the Andong Gwon and Seongju Yi clans jointly founded the shrine, modelling it on the Zhu Xi shrine in Xin'an, China. The shrine that housed Zhu Xi's portrait was destroyed by fire during the rule of the Daewongun, leaving only its foundation stones, until it was restored in 2006.
