Sosanjeongsa is a family study-hall building, named after nearby Mount Soheulsan. It was first built in 1890, extensively rebuilt in 1915, and has since been repaired several times. It was built by Sohogong and his son Gunsugun of the Haman Yi clan. Sohogong studied Confucianism without entering government service, while Gunsugun served as a local magistrate before retiring to his hometown to train younger scholars. Sosanjeongsa faces southwest, at the foot of the southern slope of Sirubong peak. Entering through the gate, the main hall stands directly opposite; besides this building there is a pavilion called Hallujeong, a storehouse, and an auxiliary tile-roofed house, one of each. Hoeunjeong, a pavilion of the same scale as Hallujeong, was destroyed by fire in 1999. The main hall is five bays wide and two bays deep. From the left it consists of two bays centred on an ondol (heated-floor) room with a narrow veranda (toetmaru) at front and back, two bays of wooden flooring, and one bay with an ondol room flanked front and back by a toetmaru — a layered (gyeopjip) structure in which the toe-bays at front and back of the rooms are well developed. The roof is a hip-and-gable (paljak) roof, square at the eaves and triangular at the ridge when seen from the gable end. The bracket sets (gongpo) fitted between the eaves and the pillars to carry the load are of the ikgong type, with members shaped like a bird's wing. Five purlins (dori) run across the pillars to carry the rafters, and two flower-shaped blocks (hwaban) are set between the janghyeo, which support the purlins, and the changbang, which ties the pillars together. Hallujeong is three bays wide and two bays deep, consisting of one bay of wooden flooring and two ondol rooms each with an attached toetmaru; it has a soro-sujang structure, decorated with small blocks (soro) supporting the purlins and janghyeo, and has three purlins. The gate building is five bays wide, built in the sotdaemun style, with its roof raised higher than the flanking wings so that a palanquin could pass through.
