This is a seodang, a village school, built to commemorate the learning and virtue of Dongam Gwon I-beon and to train younger scholars. Gwon I-beon served as Sabok-sijeong, head of Sabok-si, the office responsible for the king's carriages and horses. The school was built by his descendants Sawa, Saju and Sajik in 1749, the twenty-fifth year of King Yeongjo of Joseon. It was later moved to its present site in 1785, the ninth year of King Jeongjo, when Dongsansa was built there. The building is three kan (structural bays) wide and two kan deep, with a hipped-and-gabled roof that, seen from the side, forms a shape resembling the Chinese character for "eight" (八).
