This is a standing image of the Amitabha Buddha enshrined in the Geungnakjeon Hall of Munamsa Temple, in Ongnyul-ri, Eomo-myeon, Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It had originally been left abandoned behind the village, until the monk Dohyeon built the temple and installed it in the Geungnakjeon Hall. The Buddha and its halo were carved together from a single stone. The figure as a whole leans to one side, and its lower part is buried in cement, so that its original shape can no longer be made out. The right hand is lowered to the lower abdomen, while the left hand was originally fitted with a separate stone piece, which is now lost. The surface is so worn overall that details cannot be clearly identified, but the statue is presumed to date from the Unified Silla period.
