Kang Min-cheom Jang Gun Tomb
강민첨장군묘 · 姜民瞻將軍墓

Kang Min-cheom (?–1021) was a military official of the Goryeo dynasty, and this is his tomb. He passed the civil service examination during the reign of King Mokjong, and in 1012, the third year of King Hyeonjong, he served as Inspector and repelled a Jurchen force that had invaded the Yeongil region and elsewhere. In 1018, the ninth year of King Hyeonjong, when the Khitan general So Bae-ap invaded with an army of 100,000, Kang served as deputy commander under General Gang Gam-chan and defeated the enemy at Heunghwajin. For this achievement he was appointed Eungyang Sangjanggun Jugung and Usangisangsi in 1019 and recorded as a Chuseongchiriikdae Meritorious Subject, and the following year he became Minister of War (Byeongbu Sangseo). The tomb is located in Icheon-ri, Daesul-myeon, Yesan-gun. Around the lower part of its half-round mound is a well-dressed kerbstone border. In front of the tomb are a stone offering table and a janmyeongdeung (a stone lantern placed before a tomb), flanked by stone figures of animals, child attendants, a manjuseok (an ornamental stone pillar), and human figures. In front of the tomb precinct stands a sindobi — a stele raised beside a road near the tomb of a king or high official to commemorate their lifetime achievements — erected in 1957; its inscription was composed by Kang Min-cheom's 24th-generation descendant Tae-hyeon and carved by his 25th-generation descendant Tae-seok.
