These are books and old documents relating to Yun Si-yeong, a civil official of the late Joseon period. Yun Si-yeong passed the civil service examination in 1891, the 28th year of Emperor Gojong, and served as Corrector and Second Compiler in the Hongmungwan, the Office of Special Advisors, and as magistrate of Buan County. When disturbances broke out in Hongju and Nampo, he was also appointed royal pacification envoy to those areas. The documents comprise one volume of ilgi, a diary, recording what Yun Si-yeong experienced while carrying out the administration of Hongju County during the two months from April to May 1906, when he served as its magistrate (Hongju is present-day Hongseong-gun), together with six further volumes of administrative and accounting documents from the Japanese colonial period, including records of the activities of righteous army fighters resisting Japanese rule and of relief work for the poor. These historical materials have been kept at the house of Yun Chan-gu, Yun Si-yeong's grandson, and form a valuable record that details the circumstances of the time.
