This house was built by Gwon Jang (1802–1874) as a residence for his third son, Gwon Suk. It was erected in 1850, the first year of King Cheoljong of Joseon, and is known as Nam Cheon Historic House after Gwon Suk's pen name. It is a tile-roofed house measuring six kan across the front and six kan in depth, built in an open, square (ㅁ-shaped) layout. The main hall (anchae) has a built-in wall cupboard that shows the changing character of traditional 19th-century houses, while the men's quarters (sarangchae) unusually functioned as a seodang, a village school for training students.
