Ain-ri Stone Pagoda
아인리석탑 · 衙仁里石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis stone pagoda stands in Ain-ri, Geumsan-eup. It would originally have consisted of a three-storey body set on a single-tier foundation, but the second-storey body stone and the finial at the top are now missing. The foundation is a recent reconstruction, made of four flat stones standing upright to form the four sides and capped with a covering stone. The south face of the first-storey body stone bears a figure of the Buddha engraved in fine lines, and the second-storey roof stone and third-storey body stone, carved from a single piece, sit beneath a third-storey roof stone whose size does not match well, giving the pagoda an unstable set of proportions. The roof stones have eave supports on the underside in four tiers at the first storey and three tiers at the second and third storeys, with the corners sharply upturned. Roof tiles from the Goryeo period have been recovered around the pagoda, suggesting that it was built during the Goryeo dynasty.
