Isajae Hall, Sancheong
산청 이사재 · 山淸尼泗齋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krIsajae Hall is the ancestral shrine hall (jaesil) of Minister Park Ho-won, pen name Songwoldang. It holds a dedicatory record by Park Heon-su, pen name Ibam, and a hanging plaque inscribed by Ha Do, pen name Songju. Auxiliary corner pillars (hwalju) are erected at all four corners; the outer columns are round and the inner columns square. At the front of the central wooden floor, a gyeja-style balustrade is left open to form the entrance, while the doorways to the rooms on either side each have three-panel folding doors in the sesal lattice style. To the west of the shrine hall, beneath a rock outcrop, there is a shallow well connected to a rectangular pond. Because the corners of both the well and the pond are finished with well-dressed long stones and decorative carving, they are presumed to date from the time of the hall's original construction; and since the ridge-raising inscription records the date as the eighth month of the Jeongsa year, the hall is estimated to have been built in 1857. The designated area is 886 ㎡, comprising a single building (51.75 ㎡) measuring five bays across the front and two bays deep.
