Pungcheon Clan Dae Head Family, Hamyang
함양 풍천노씨대종가 · 豊川盧氏大宗家

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe main house (anchae) is four bays wide and two bays deep, with a toe—a narrow additional bay under the eaves—at both the front and back, built with a five-ryang frame (a roof structure with five purlins) and a hip-and-gable roof. An inscription on the ridge purlin (jongdori) reading "the 2376th year of the Confucian calendar" (counted from the birth of Confucius) shows that the house was built in 1824, the twenty-fourth year of King Sunjo of Joseon, and it is said to have been repaired about seventy years ago. The front platform (gidan) was built to a height of about 80 cm, and on top of it square column bases (juchwa) were set, with the columns erected using a slight taper (minheullim). The inscription on the ridge purlin of the main house, reading "the 2376th year of the Confucian calendar" (1824), makes the date of construction certain, and the building—with its use of toe spaces at front and back, its simple framing technique, and its decorative details—shows the architectural style and techniques of late Joseon. It therefore has scholarly value and is well preserved.
