Gwanpo (灌圃) was the pen name of Eo Deuk-gang (1470–1550), who spent his later years living in seclusion in the Jinju region. The Gwanposijip is Eo Deuk-gang's collected literary works; because Gwanpo had been the teacher of Toegye Yi Hwang (1501–1570), the collection includes a colophon written by Yi Hwang, together with a postscript written by Gwanpo's great-grandson through a daughter's line, Changju Ha Jeung (1563–1624). According to Ha Jeung's postscript, the Gwanposijip was first published in 1558 by the provincial governor O Gyeom (1496–1582), but after fire destroyed that edition, Gwanpo's grandson through a daughter's line, Ha Jin-bo (1530–1585), had it reprinted while serving as magistrate of Miryang (1579–1583); this edition was in turn lost during the Japanese invasions of Korea. Later, in 1617, Ha Jeung had four poems subsequently discovered, together with his postscript, newly carved and published. This copy of the Gwanposijip is a rare edition: the only other identical copy confirmed to exist is a single volume held at the Kyujanggak.
