A jaesil is a building erected to maintain a tomb and perform ancestral rites. Chungheongong Yun Jeon was a civil official of the mid-Joseon period who passed the state examination in 1610, the second year of King Gwanghaegun, and served as a records officer (jongsagwan) under Kim Jang-saeng when the Jeongmyo War broke out in 1627. During the Byeongja War of 1636 he took refuge on Ganghwa, but when the fortress fell he attempted to take his own life; the attempt failed, and he was killed by enemy soldiers. Yun Jeon was praised for his warmth of feeling and prudence, and his posthumous title was Chungheon (忠憲). This ritual house has an L-shaped (ㄱ-shaped) plan: one roof is a gable roof that, seen from the side, takes the shape of the character 人 (person), while the other is a hip-and-gable roof that, seen from the side, takes the shape of the character 八 (eight). The pillars are square in section, and the side and rear walls are built plainly.
