Yeongju Sudoribakdeogu House
영주수도리박덕우가옥 · 榮州水島里朴德雨家屋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis house stands at the centre of the village, facing southwest. It was originally a kkachigumeongjip, a thatched-roof house with holes pierced in the roof ridge for ventilation, resembling magpie holes, but the thatch was replaced with tiles during a roof-improvement project in 1976. Relatively small in scale, the house has three bays across the front and two bays to the side. At the front, a stable and kitchen are arranged around a central bongdang, an earthen-floored open space, while at the rear are the main room, a wooden-floored hall, and the men's quarters (sarangbang). It was built in the late Joseon period and, although it has undergone several repairs since, retains its original form relatively well.
