Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krYeongsajae was built in 1689, the 15th year of King Sukjong's reign, as a shrine for ancestral rites honouring Lady Nam of the Uiryeong clan, wife of Kim Geuk-nyu, who was born in 1436, the 18th year of King Sejong's reign, and served as Daesagan, head of the Office of Censors, and as Byeongjo champ'an, Vice Minister of War. The jaesil (memorial hall) is a building of three kan across the front and two kan in depth, topped with a hipped-and-gabled roof; the samunmun (three-bay gate) and the east and west side chambers were built recently. On an east-facing hill slope 50m behind the jaesil stands the tomb of Lady Nam of Uiryeong. The tomb area retains a gravestone, stone civil-official figures, a stone lantern, and an altar stone, among other features.
