Sinwonjae, in Wangdae-ri, Duma-myeon, is the jaesil (memorial hall) of Kim Bi (1913–1699), the ninth son of Kim Jang-saeng (pen name Sagye). It was built in 1632 by Kim Jip (pen name Sindokjae) and his brothers as a place to compile and write out the works of his grandfather and his father, Kim Jang-saeng. After Kim Jip's death, his youngest brother Kim Bi likewise compiled and wrote here the Hwanggang-haengjang, a biographical account of Hwanggang, and its accompanying Silgi (factual record), as well as the complete writings of Sagye and Sindokjae, making it a place of long and deep historical significance. The building itself is a traditional Korean-style timber house with a tiled roof, dating from the mid-Joseon period.
