The well stands in a natural village called Buyeo Duri, said to have long been home to the Seo clan of Buyeo, one of the Buyeo Wang lineages, and from early times this area has been known as Mangadae ("site of ten thousand households"). The well is 5.2m deep, and its above-ground section is framed in the shape of the character 井 (a "well" shape); each side of the stone framework measures 180cm, with a height of 45cm. According to the village head, the well was dug to a depth of 5–6m, with well-dressed stone slabs laid at the bottom; above these, well-dressed rectangular stone blocks were stacked in a rectangular frame, and from partway up natural stones of varying size were used to build the shaft in a circular form, while at the very top irregularly shaped long stones were joined crosswise to form the 井-shaped frame. This well was built using highly refined, carefully dressed stone, reflecting an advanced level of construction technique, and its structure closely resembles that of the Guari Baekje Well Site, excavated around 1996, which was built from timber set into a dug pit; this makes it valuable evidence suggesting that it represents one of the well styles current in the Baekje period. The stonework at the top of the well, framed in the 井 shape, is very heavily worn, showing the long history of the well's use over many years. Built with well-dressed stone to an advanced standard of construction, this well is said to date from the Baekje period, and its importance is heightened by the fact that it has kept its original condition to the present day and is known to have been used until recently; in connection with the well found at the Buyeo Guri Baekje site, it is a valuable resource for clarifying the form of Baekje-period wells.
