This house stands at the eastern end of the village and is said to have been built around 1930 by the father of the present owner. It was originally thatched but has since been re-roofed with slate. It consists of a straight (一-shaped) main house and an L-shaped (ㄴ-shaped) gate quarters, with an earthen wall built between them to separate the inner courtyard from the outer yard. In the main house, the kitchen, main room (anbang), wooden-floored hall (maru) and sarang hall (the wooden-floored hall of the men's quarters) are arranged in that order from left to right. A kitchen room was set inside the kitchen, connecting through to the main room, and the raised wooden-floored hall between the main room and the sarang room is unusual in being accessible only from the main room. Behind the sarang room are a storeroom and a one-kan heated (ondol) room; this arrangement is notable for allowing guests to be received without passing through the inner courtyard, preserving the independence of the main house. The gate quarters run, in order, from a foot-pedalled mill to a rice chest, a storeroom, a cattle shed and the main gate, with a heated room behind the mill completing the L shape. A door was set into the wall from the cattle shed toward the inner courtyard, to block sightlines into the main house and help keep it warm in winter. Although the house has undergone later alteration and is not an old building, its spatial arrangement and structure are distinctive, making it valuable material for the study of architecture in the Andong region.
