The Jinju Wongye-ri Miryang Son Clan Gyeongin-bo has the character of a daedongbo, a genealogy compiled to cover an entire clan nationwide, bringing together the Milseong Son clan across the whole country up to 1710. In particular, detailed and meticulous annotations appear throughout, evidently added by Son Jeon (1634–?), who appears to have led the compilation, lending the record of facts a credible degree of objectivity. The order of listing children was changed from birth order to sons first and then daughters, and the record of maternal-line descendants (oeson) extends three generations past the son-in-law; it is so detailed that, in some cases, even the son-in-law of a maternal-line descendant's son-in-law can be traced. At the front of the Geon volume is a preface and postscript dated the fifth month of eulhae, the 68th year after the start of the Chongzhen era (1695); the part of the preface naming its author is missing, and the postscript was written by a descendant, Son Jeon. The cover title reads Miryang Son-ssi Sebo (Genealogy of the Miryang Son Clan), while the inner title and the title on the centrefold both read Milseong Son-ssi Jokbo (Clan Genealogy of the Milseong Son Clan). The book comprises two volumes, traditionally labelled Geon and Gon: the Geon volume has 78 leaves and the Gon volume 69, for 147 leaves in total. The border on all four sides is drawn in two lines, one thick and one thin; the book measures 25 cm wide by 36.5 cm tall, and the printed text area (half-frame) measures 21 by 27.5 cm. The fish-tail marks at top and bottom are in an inward-facing two-leaf flower pattern, the text area is set in 11 columns, and the block was carved for 23 characters per column. The frame and ruled lines were cut as woodblocks, within which wooden movable type was set for printing, making this a wood-movable-type edition. The colophon on the last leaf of the Gon volume records that it was printed with wooden movable type at Songsa in the fourth month of gyeongin, the 83rd year after the start of the Chongzhen era, showing that the genealogy was printed there in April 1710. Published relatively early, in 1710, this is a nationally rare edition. It was a general trend for clans across the country to first publish daedongbo-style genealogies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and this genealogy, as the first daedongbo of the Milseong Son clan, can be considered a rare edition nationwide. Later genealogies of the clan grew more detailed and voluminous, but because content was often added or revised, they combine improvements with parts that are difficult to fully trust. This genealogy, by contrast, records the lineage of the Milseong Son clan and its descendants through female lines very accurately up to the early 18th century, making it an important source.
