This Buddha statue was made by carving a pedestal into a granite boulder standing on the ground and setting the Buddha image on top of it. The pedestal has two tiers: the lower tier is square, with an ansang (an arched niche motif) carved on each face, and the upper tier is round, carved with a lotus pattern. The standing figure measures 233 cm in overall height, 75 cm across the shoulders and 53 cm in head height. In this standing image the head is carved somewhat large in proportion to the body. A thick, round yukgye (the cranial knob symbolising the Buddha's enlightenment) rises on the crown; the head itself is bald, with no ornament, though the boundary with the face is clearly marked. The mouth, eyes, nose and ears have been damaged and were recarved to suit the large face, and samdo, the three creases conventionally shown on a Buddha's neck, are rendered on the thick neck. A robe draped over both shoulders covers the figure down to the ankles. The right hand faces palm-forward, but the left hand is missing, so its original form is unknown; it has since been repaired to appear as though supporting a wish-fulfilling jewel. On the back of the statue the folds of the robe are also clearly carved, and there are large holes below the neck and at the head, apparently made for attaching a halo.
