Cheongsong Chojeondaek House
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This house is said to have been built in 1806, the sixth year of King Sunjo's reign, by Sim Deok-hwal, a 17th-generation member of the Seokchon branch of the Cheongsong Sim clan, to celebrate the fourth birthday of his son Heon-mun, who had been adopted as heir to his younger brother Deokjong after Deokjong died young. It was repaired in 1900 by Ui-hae, a 21st-generation descendant, and the family has lived in it continuously down to the present. The house consists of an inner quarters (anchae) in a square, '□'-shaped plan and a men's quarters (sarangchae) in a straight, '―'-shaped plan, which together form an overall square, '□'-shaped layout.
