The building has an excellent plan in the shape of the letter ㄱ, with a raised wooden-floored hall (numaru) at the front, together with a solid structure, fine woodworking technique, and meticulous stone dressing and construction. In particular, the distinctively patterned folding lift-up doors between the wooden floor and the heated room, the panelled doors at the rear of the floor, and the windows and low sill framing (meoreum) at the front of the ondol room form a highly integrated and dignified design. The soro brackets, small bearing blocks set atop the columns, together with the beautiful window composition and the coffered ceiling (umul-banja) above the floor, illustrate well the architectural features and decorative tendencies of hanok from the modern period.
