Tamjin An Clan Head House, Uiryeong
의령 탐진안씨 종택 · 宜寧 耽津安氏 宗宅

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis modern-period hanok was built in 1906 (the 10th year of Gwangmu, byeongo) by the great-great-grandfather An Yeong-je; it is the head house of the Tamjin An clan, who have lived for generations in Ipsan Village. An ink inscription on the underside of the purlin support beam below the ridge purlin in the main hall of the women's quarters reads "大韓光武十年丙午...." ("the tenth year of Daehan Gwangmu, byeongo..."), confirming that the house was built in 1906. Reflecting traditional architectural form combined with the rationality and efficiency of the modern era, the building uses solid timber members and displays excellent woodworking technique, making it valuable material illustrating the appearance of the main residence of a wealthy farming family in the South Gyeongsang region before the Japanese colonial period.
