The An Ho-sang Historic House stands at the centre of Ipsan village, Uiryeong, where the Tamjin An clan has lived for generations; it is the birthplace of Dr An Ho-sang, who served as the first Minister of Education when the government of the Republic of Korea was founded in 1948. The only part of the house with architectural significance is the main hall (anchae), built in 1911; the other structures, including the lower quarters and side gate, are later in date, and with the loss of the sarangchae (men's quarters), the gate quarters and other outbuildings, the original layout and outdoor spatial composition have been badly damaged. The main hall is a single-row building five bays wide and one bay deep, a single-eaved gable-roofed (matbae) house with well-developed eaves extensions on front, rear and both sides. An ink inscription on the beam supporting the ridge purlin, reading "In the year Sinhae, on the fifteenth day of the second month...", shows that it was built in 1911.
