Manchwidang Hall is a building representative of the Yeonan Kim clan in the Yeongju region. Its construction date, the 20th year of King Seonjo of Joseon (1587), is clearly established, and the details of its later renovation are also known. While buildings for lecturing and study generally follow the 'central hall with flanking rooms' (jungdang hyeopsil) plan, this hall shows an unusual structure. Its upper framework, the composition of its windows and doors, and its woodworking techniques are also well preserved in forms consistent with both its original construction date and the period of its renovation.
