This house was built around 1580 by Gwon U (pen name Yeongsadang, 1520-1593), who served as a righteous army commander during the Imjin War. The present head house was repaired around 1780. Features such as the dojangbang (storage rooms) set on either side of the inner daecheong (wooden-floored hall), the underdeveloped sarangbang (men's quarters) space, the deoggeumae (loft) above the dojangbang, and the construction of the daecheong's rear wall all retain the appearance of the building at the time of its construction, making it valuable material for the study of housing history.
