This stele was erected to commemorate the spirit of Baek Su-hoe, a loyal subject remembered for his high-minded devotion. It carries great historical value in that Songdamsa Temple, the shrine dedicated to Baek Su-hoe, is the only temple in Yangsan to have received a royal nameplate (a plaque bestowed by the king, marking official recognition). Its heritage value is further enhanced by the fact that the inscription was composed by Hong Jik-pil, the foremost scholar of his generation, and written out in calligraphy by Park Mun-hyeon.
