This building is a jaesa (memorial hall) built to guard the tomb of Kim Seong-tak (pen name Jesan), a seventh-generation descendant of Kim Jin (pen name Cheonggye) of the Uiseong Kim clan; its construction is presumed to date to around 1830. The main house has a floor plan of the wooden-floor-centred gyeopjip type (a double-depth house plan centred on a wooden-floored hall); until just a few decades ago this house type was commonly found in the northern Gyeongsangbuk-do region, but it has now almost disappeared.
