Ju Ui-su Tomb, Changwon
KOGL Type 4Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Ju Ui-su served as manho (garrison commander) of Jepo during the Jeongyu War, the second phase of the Japanese invasions of Korea in 1597, and won great merit in repelling the Japanese forces. His military achievements are recorded as those of a first-class merit subject in the Seonmu Wonjong Gongsin Nokgwon (a roster of subjects honoured for loyal service), and are also clearly attested in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, the Nanjung ilgi (War Diary), and related royal edicts. No gravestone or stone furnishings from the time of the tomb's original construction survive at the site today, but in view of his military achievements, the tomb is valuable material that fosters historical awareness of national defence and the protection of the local region during the Imjin War period.
