Sogangjae Hall stands below Sosan, in Naeje-ri, Nakseo-myeon, Uiryeong. It is a jaesil, a hall built for ancestral memorial rites, erected by descendants of the Byeokjin Yi clan in reverence for their ancestor Yi Dong-ju, known by his pen name Mongheon. It preserves well the original form of modern-period jaesil architecture, and its structural form and window and door joinery reflect detailed techniques that embody the changing attitudes to domestic living, together with an emphasis on ease of construction and ornamentation, that emerged from the modern period onward. For these reasons it holds value for preservation in terms of both architectural history and cultural heritage.
