The Daeungjeon Hall of Yongsansa Temple stands at San 19-1, Yongsan-ri, Myeongseok-myeon. It was built in 1921 by Park Heon-gyeong, a chambong (holder of an honorary low-ranking office) living in Yongsan, to pray for his mother's rebirth in the Pure Land. Structurally, the hall has a distinctive roof based on a matbae (gabled) form with additional roof sections extended to either side. Unlike a typical Daeungjeon Hall, it is built with an ondol (heated floor) set on a raised, numaru-type wooden base, and has a front veranda bay (jeontoegan) enclosed by a gyeja balustrade. Although the hall is not particularly old, its form, a variation on traditional architecture, shows an aspect of building technique as it changed into the modern period, giving it high value as material for the study of traditional architecture. It also displays a composite character in both form and use, providing good material for research into the diverse forms of hanok (traditional Korean house) architecture.
