Changhyogak Pavilion in Cheonggwang-ri, Goseong
고성 청광리 창효각 · 固城 淸光里 彰孝閣

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krChanghyogak Pavilion, in Cheonggwang-ri, Gaecheon-myeon, was built to commemorate the filial conduct of Park Yeong-hoe (pen name Jukpo, 1827–1886). Red-painted wooden pillars were erected inside the pavilion, making it clearly visible even from a distance, and the dancheong (traditional multicoloured decorative painting) on its front shows vivid colouring. It also stands close to the Bak Jinsa Old House in Cheonggwang-ri (292-3 Cheonggwang-ri, Gaecheon-myeon), itself designated a Gyeongsangnam-do Cultural Heritage Material, and together the two sites help to raise awareness of filial piety among local residents and future generations alike.
