The building is said to have been built in 1808, though the exact date of construction could not be confirmed. Behind the jaesa (ancestral ritual house) stand the memorial grave marker and stele of Seok Sa-seong, who held the court rank of Tongdeokrang and was the founding ancestor who first settled in this area; the clan gathers here every year to perform ancestral rites. As a myoha jaesil, a ritual house built below an ancestral grave, it stands facing southwest with a hill rising behind it. The building complex consists of a straight gate building at the front, connected at the rear to a jaesa of ㄷ-shaped plan. A side gate links the jaesa building and the gate building, so that, seen from outside, the whole reads as a single 口-shaped structure. As the building in which the Chungju Seok clan resident in this area honour their ancestors, it has lost some of its original form through alterations to the daecheong hall and ondol rooms, yet it holds very important significance as the spiritual focal point for the Chungju Seok clan of this now-submerged district.
