Wanjaejeong is a jaesil — a hall used by a clan for ancestral rites — belonging to the Andong Kwon clan, built as a pavilion in 1900. Its distinctive composition, with the pavilion set at the centre of an island created within Wiyangji Pond and reached only by boat, is an outstanding example of garden design from the Gyeongnam region and from the late Joseon period more generally, a tradition of centrally sited island pavilions of which little now survives.
