The oldest surviving building on the campus of Ewha Girls' High School, it was built in 1915 with funds entrusted by the American Sarah J. Simpson. The building has one basement level and three storeys above ground; it collapsed during the Korean War and was restored in the early 1960s, when the façade of the southern section was restored to its original appearance while the rear section was given a modern exterior. Built of reinforced concrete with red-brick outer walls, it is a modern building that introduced an early Western architectural style to school buildings in Korea. It is now used as the Ewha Museum.
