Gyeongbuk Provincial Normal School, the predecessor of Daegu School of Education, was established during the Japanese colonial period to train the teachers needed to carry out colonial education policy. The main building has a projecting entrance porch at the centre of its façade, with four square columns supporting a flat roof, and two large ball-shaped decorative stone ornaments set in front of the porch's stone columns. The auditorium has a hipped roof fitted with six semicircular dormer windows at front and back, and buttress columns are set at both side corners of the exterior walls to give them structural stability.
