Built in 1923, this building is a church erected to serve as a base for missionary work in the Chungcheongbuk-do region, and it clearly shows the hanok (traditional Korean house) form characteristic of Anglican churches of the period. It measures four kan across the front and eight kan along the side (kan being a traditional unit of bay width), with the entrance on the east and the altar on the west. Inside, two rows of columns divide the space into nave and aisles, forming a typical basilica plan. It is an example of applying the structure of a wooden hanok to church architecture, and as the first Anglican building in the Chungcheongbuk-do region it became a model for later Anglican church buildings.
