대구 동산병원 구관 · 大邱 東山病院 舊館
Registered Cultural HeritageColonial Period · 1931

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis building had Jejungwon, Daegu's first Western-style hospital, as its predecessor, and was constructed by the missionary Fletcher. During the Pacific War it was used by the Japanese military as a police hospital, and during the Korean War as the Daegu branch of the National Police Hospital. The floor plan is in the shape of the Chinese character '一' (a single horizontal stroke), with rooms arranged facing each other on either side of a central corridor. A porch originally projected from the centre of the front entrance, but this was demolished in 2010 to make way for the construction of Daegu Metro Line 3.
