Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krBuilt in 1937, this building was erected as the Daejeon branch of the Joseon Industrial Bank, which was operated with Japanese capital during the Japanese colonial period, and after liberation it was used as the Daejeon branch of the Korea Development Bank until 1997. The base is built of granite, and the upper part of the second storey is girdled with an ornate horizontal band of terracotta, below which octagonal columns are installed to emphasise the frontal façade. Granite, terracotta and other materials imported from Manchuria and Germany were used to create an atmosphere that is both simple and dignified.
