Water Tower at Dogye Station, Samcheok
삼척 도계역 급수탑 · 三陟 道溪驛 給水塔
Registered Cultural HeritageColonial Period · 1940

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krInstalled in 1940, this is the only water tower surviving in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and it shows the typical form of water towers of the period. At 8 metres, its height is considerably lower than that of other water towers; this appears to be because it was built on ground 4 metres higher than the rail level, with its height adjusted to take the terrain into account and secure adequate water pressure. The dome-shaped roof is fitted with semicircular dormer windows on all four sides.
