Water Tower at Chupungnyeong Station, Yeongdong
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Built in 1939, this facility is a water tower constructed to supply water to the steam locomotives running on the Gyeongbu Line. It is the only surviving railway water tower with a rectangular plan, and its overall elevation, composed of three tiers — base, machine room and water tank — resembles the composition of other water towers. Inside the machine room is the pump that once supplied water to the steam locomotives, and outside the tower a pond that drew in the water needed for supply still remains; all the facilities associated with the water tower are well preserved in their original form.
