KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

Built in 1912, this building was constructed as a missionary residence for the Southern Presbyterian Mission of the United States. It was used as the principal's residence until 1990, and is now used as the centennial memorial hall and music room of Jeongmyeong Girls' High School. Its distinctive feature is that it was built not of the red brick commonly used at the time but of granite quarried locally. It is the earliest-dated stone building surviving in Mokpo, and was built in a modernist architectural style using stone skilfully worked from a nearby quarry in Mokpo.
