Built in 1935, this building was a place where Hansen's disease patients were illegally confined during the Japanese colonial period. One building was erected on the north side and one on the south, linked by a connecting corridor to form an 'H' shape in plan, and high walls of red brick were built around it, giving it the appearance of a small prison from the outside. It is the site of human rights abuses committed against Hansen's disease patients who were forcibly confined on Sorokdo Island during the Japanese colonial period.
