Former Main Administration Building and Auditorium of Sorokdo Rehabilitation Center, Goheung

Built in 1937, this building is where Hansen's disease patients isolated on Sorokdo Island during the Japanese colonial period were managed and supervised, and it symbolically represents the human rights abuses of the Japanese colonial authorities. The main administration building was originally constructed of red brick, but its façade is now finished in pink tiles, so only its basic frame retains its appearance from the time of construction. The auditorium was built as an extension to the rear of the main administration building and linked to it by a corridor; rectangular vents are set between the columns to ventilate the space beneath the wooden floor.
