Built in the 1930s–40s. This site was an official residence village built in the 1930s–40s for senior officials of director-general rank and above, and it offers a typical example of official residence architecture from the Japanese colonial period. These residences are uniform in form, materials and layout, and harmonise well with the surrounding landscape. Today four residence buildings and three storehouses survive, including the official residence of the Chungcheongnam-do governor where President Rhee Syng-man stayed during the Korean War, and the site continues to serve its original function as official residences to this day.
